Description
On Isabela Island, Punta Moreno, you will find many Flightless Cormorants. These bird arrived to the Galapagos thousands of years ago and finding no enemies and have discovered a wonderful nesting location that offered lots of food, they did not need to fly away. Over the thousands of years, their wings have diminished in size and are no longer able to lift the bird into the air even if he did want to fly. I suppose in a few thousand more years, this bird will be more like the duck he resembles with wings either completely gone or so small they would be difficult to detect. Curiously though, these Cormorants still spread their wings to dry just like their cousins who can fly.
