Everyone's favorite bird of the Galapagos Islands is the comical Blue Footed Booby. While awkward on land, these birds are graceful fliers and precise dive-bombing hunters of fish in the ocean. Their signature blue feet (and beaks) is caused by the carotenoid pigments, which the boobies get through their diet, are concentrated in their feet, making them appear blue in color.

Terrific, Jennifer! I'd so love to see these in person some day! Congrats on the WOWIE! L
Jennifer Wheatley Wolf replied:
Thank you Richard! I would suggest you don't wait too long. I was on a Celebrity Cruise that took care of all details. I highly recommend them. However, the 7 days was action packed with every day starting at 6am. Long walks on loose rocks or uneven lava in the blazing sun was at times at the edges of my limits. My 83 year old mother-in-law was an inspiration on the ship. "If she's going, so are we!" Another reason not to wait too long is that in the upcoming years limits are going to be made on the # of people allowed to tour the islands. While every precaution is considered, no doubt having thousands of people visit the islands has an impact. It is a very special place-move it to the top of your list!
